"Cat Scratch Fever" is a rock song by Ted Nugent that appears on the album of the same name. This is gonzo guitarist Ted Nugent's signature tune and may have marked the beginnings of the loin-clothed singer's longtime obsession with wild animals. The rock beast who cannot be tamed screamed into the mainstream with the Top 30 title song from his album; it later became an album radio staple.

Cat Scratch Fever was Nugent's third album, and featured vocal contributions from Derek St. Holmes, who also sang on Nugent's first album before being replaced by Meat Loaf for the second: Free For All. St. Holmes left for good after this album, as Nugent realized singing the songs himself was the best way to command the most attention.

Alice Cooper? That's what a song called "Death by Misadventure" seems to be about, though why Nugent has chosen to give Alice the raspberry is hard to fathom. Ted Nugent does not reason as do you or I, my friends. But "Death by Misadventure" is atypical Nugent, anyway. The prime stuff on Cat Scratch Fever is the title song, "Workin'Hard.

As Ted himself proclaims: "If anyone wanted to know what rock 'n' roll was all about, this is the only album they'll need." "The band's first release, 's Ted Nugent, is a prime slice of testosterone-heavy, raging, unapologetic rock & roll, and along with the band's release Cat Scratch Fever, it is Nugent's best solo studio album.
